What do I need to do to protect myself from a cyber attack?

To protect yourself from a cyber attack, there are several important steps you can take:

Keep your software up to date:  Regularly update your operating system, web browsers, and other software to ensure you have the latest security patches and bug fixes.

Use strong and unique passwords:  Create strong passwords that include a combination of letters, numbers, and special characters.  Avoid using the same password for multiple accounts.

Enable two-factor authentication (2FA): Enable 2FA whenever possible to add an extra layer of security to your online accounts.  This typically involves entering a verification code sent to your mobile device in addition to your password.

Be cautious of phishing attempts:  Be aware of suspicious emails, messages, or phone calls asking for personal information.  Avoid clicking on links or downloading attachments from unknown sources.

Use a reputable antivirus software: Install and regularly update antivirus software to detect and remove malware from your devices.

Secure your home-network:  Change the default password on your Wi-Fi router and enable encryption (WPA2 or WPA3) to protect your network from unauthorized access.
